Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step
10 mins

Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until crispy and evenly browned. (8-10 minutes). Remove bacon from skillet, reserving 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan. Crumble the bacon and set aside.

03

Step
6 mins

Add chopped onion to the skillet with the reserved bacon grease. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened and translucent. (5-7 minutes)

04

Step
2 mins

In a medium-sized baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches), combine the crumbled bacon, cooked onion, drained green beans, brown sugar, dry mustard, and chili sauce. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.

05

Step
30 mins

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the mixture is heated through and bubbly. (30 minutes). Serve hot, and enjoy!

For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter to sauté the onions. Add a pinch of smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.
Feel free to adjust the amount of brown sugar and chili sauce to suit your taste preferences. Some people prefer a slightly sweeter or spicier flavor.
This dish can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to bake. Add about 10-15 minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
If you like a cheesier dish, sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese on top during the last 5 minutes of baking.
To prevent the green beans from drying out during baking, you can add a tablespoon or two of water or vegetable broth to the baking dish before placing it in the oven.
