Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large skillet, cook and stir ground turkey, onions, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, serrano chile pepper, fresh chile pepper, and garlic over medium heat until the turkey is no longer pink. (Approximately 10 minutes) Drain any excess fat.

02

Step

Stir in the ketchup, barbecue sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, onion powder, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the vegetables are completely softened and the sauce has thickened. (Approximately 20 minutes)

03

Step

Serve the spicy turkey mixture on split hamburger buns. Garnish with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese or coleslaw, for an extra layer of flavor and texture.

For a milder flavor, omit the serrano and fresh chile peppers or reduce the amount used.
To add more depth of flavor, try using smoked paprika or a dash of liquid smoke.
These Sloppy Joes are even better the next day! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
For meal prepping, cook a large batch of this recipe on the weekend and freeze it. When ready, thaw overnight in the fridge, and you have a quick and easy meal.
