For a richer flavor, try using roasted garlic instead of raw. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat. Other vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach can easily be added. If you don't have Parmigiano-Reggiano, Pecorino Romano or a similar hard cheese works well.
