Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray. Spray one sheet of aluminum foil with cooking spray. (5 minutes)

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove and discard foil; sprinkle Swiss cheese over casserole. Continue baking until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 10 more minutes. (30 minutes)
For an extra layer of flavor, try toasting the rye bread cubes in a skillet with a little butter before assembling the casserole.
If you prefer a creamier casserole, mix a tablespoon or two of sour cream into the Russian dressing before pouring it over the layers.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese! Gruyere or Emmental would also be delicious in this casserole.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave until warmed through.
