Follow The Directions

01

Step
5 mins

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a 9-inch pie plate with the bottom crust of your pastry. (5 minutes)

02

Step
3 mins

In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of this mixture evenly over the pastry-lined pie plate. (3 minutes)

03

Step
7 mins

In a large bowl, combine the apples, peaches, pears, plums, and grated ginger. Sprinkle with lemon juice and toss gently to distribute evenly. (7 minutes)

04

Step
2 mins

Transfer the fruit mixture into the prepared pie plate, mounding it slightly in the center. Sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture over the fruit. (2 minutes)

05

Step
10 mins

Cover with the top crust pastry. Pinch the edges to seal the top and bottom crusts together, then crimp decoratively. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking. Alternatively, create a lattice crust for a beautiful presentation. (10 minutes)

06

Step
50 mins

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to set the crust. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C) and continue baking until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling and thickened, approximately 35 minutes. (50 minutes)

07

Step
2 hrs

Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack before serving. This allows the filling to set properly. (2 hours)

For best results, use a combination of tart and sweet apples to balance the flavors.
If using frozen peaches, be sure to thaw them completely and drain any excess liquid before adding them to the filling.
A lattice crust not only looks beautiful but also allows for better ventilation, preventing the filling from becoming too soggy.
Serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of freshly whipped cream.
